Self Portrait

I am Danielle Yvonne Reeder, a 25 year old art student with more talent for visual art then words. So, first and foremost, please write me an email if you have any questions. I was born and raised in Englewood, Colorado. I am an artist that enjoys dabbling in many areas of the art world. I have been drawing since I was a small child and have entered art collage by correspondence. I am currently enrolled in The Art Instructions School of Minneapolis, MN by correspondence. A school made famous by Charles Schultz. I am really not limited to media or content in my art. I enjoy fantasy, surreal, abstract, nudes and realism. And I have worked in graphite, acrylic paint, oil paint, pastel, sculpture, gouache paint and beading. However, Im always looking for an excuse to branch out and try something new. I normally listen to music or watch movies while I paint, however, I am picky about environment, it has to be calm and in a place I can feel relaxed and comfortable. How my mom ever painted in a house with two little girls I will never know. I have been drawing since I was able to hold a pencil. I think the first thing I really remember though is when The Little Mermaid came out when I was very young. I was obsessed with drawing her, all different posses and expressions. I often did this in class instead of doing what I needed to do. Now I wish I would have kept some of those drawings, but I think they got thrown out with the rest of the papers that I thought were trash in my school folders. I hit middle school and was very much into realism/fantasy and I wanted nothing more then to be like Boris Vallejo, I hit high school and got into abstract/realism mix, what my family called 'Gothic Art'. Now I change styles as often as I change clothes, it's just what ever I feel like doing. I do sell some of my art on Yessy and Ebay and I'm always open to new ideas. I create art because I realize that there is so much more to life then the mundane, stagnate existence that most have come to accept. We were given life so that we could contribute to it, to give it substance, to leave an echo of our selves behind for others to look at and say Im glad that person lived. We all choose to do this in different ways; I chose to do this with art. Art is not just a part of my life, for me it is life; it is why I am here.
