When you approach the art of Trevor Tennant, you are entering a world of beauty and light in his landscape and wildlife paintings. His attention to detail and ability to capture the "glow" of light is winning him national and international acclaim. Trevor was born in 1971, the only son in a family of five. He discovered he had a natural ability to draw at a very young age and has always taken his talent very seriously. "I was born with an insatiable addiction to create, this addiction will drive me to be the best artist that I'm capable of becoming." Living most of his life in the kawartha lakes region of Ontario, Canada, an area reputed for it's beautiful woodlands, farmers fields, meadows and various natural settings it's not hard to imagine where Trevor got his lifelong love of the great outdoors- the inspiration for most of his paintings. Trevor launched his art career in 1992, the year he released his first limited edition print, but it wasn't until recently with a much greater demand for his work was he able to make his dream a full-time profession. His techniques are entirely self-taught believing that art is best learned through mistakes, and by the determination to make each new painting better than the one before. He paints primarily in acrylic, creating the impression of depth, distance and texture by using layer upon layer of thin acrylic paint. Trevor Tennant is also a humanitarian, saying "It's nice to give back when and where I can, it's my gift to all those that have supported my work over the years." He's made major contributions to various charitable organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Schizophrenia Society, Cancer Society of Canada, Wildlands League, Kidney Foundation and Scouts Canada to name a few. Trevor, as an artist, has passed milestones that most fail to achieve in a lifetime. Most recently being chosen as the artist for the 2005-2007 Ontario Outdoors Card, was a two time winner of the Ducks Unlimited Canada sponsor print artist and the Trout Unlimited artist of the year. Trevor's art can be found in private and corporate collections internationally. He has a waiting list for his originals several months long and has several sold out print editions. Today wilderness and wildlife surround the artist's world. Nestled in the woods near Bobcaygeon, Ontario is where Trevor spends his time with his family and art.
