Artist Bio

I began to draw seriously already at the age of ten, inspired by a visit to Paris. Since then I've enhanced my capabilities and techniques considrably through self studies and a strong desire to become a better artist. I find the inspiration for my realistic images, only loosely based on actual scenery when travelling through Europe and the US. My painted work represents my personal view on contemporary urban scenery, often focusing on rather common subjects not often noted as beautiful or picturesque e.g. railway stations, streets, rooftops etc. Regarding style and subject matter, my work is in some respects linked to Edward Hoppers and Andrew Wyeths paintings. My linedrawings, or cityscapes as I call them are entirely fictional. They form the sheer opposite of the watercolour and egg tempera paintings. It can take up to half a year to finish one. I'm currently 23 years old and on average I produce around 70 paintings and drawings each year.
