Artist Bio

My life has been a crazy, twisted path full of rich experiences. I am a graduate of Parsons School of Design class of 1990. I got away from art and worked in Software Development & Support for 10 years. I have now come full circle back to where are I started and I have come to appreciate where I was and were I am now.

My approach to design is simple but bold lines, rich texture and organic forms. In a world so complicated I like to keep my work meaningful, thoughtful and simple.

When I work with stones I like to hold onto it for a while and think about what the design will look like. I work out the design and construction in my head from start to finish. Sketching the piece on paper doesn't help me much, but working the design out in aluminum or copper does. For me, working out the design in this way first is like sketching out the idea. I'm very hands on in my work and it usually takes several tries before I settle on a design I'm happy with.

I rarely work with thin gauge wire, except for hand made earwires. The heavy gauge wire is substantial, sturdy and has tons of possiblities. All my work is free hand using some basic wire wrap techniques and also involves hammering, sawing and filing to get the desired effect. I think of wire work as a line drawing where every line is meaningful.
