Art has always been a part of Grigor Chilingarian’s life, and his family history. At twelve years old he started taking art lessons with Eduard Manukyan, a graduate of the then known Repin Academy of Art in St. Petersburg, Russia.

There Grigor became familiar with the great masters and their profound works, which inspired him at such a young age to want to depict human emotion and expression with oil paints. He was sure that this would be a life long aspiration. His continuous love for figurative art finally took him to Europe where he was able to study the more traditional methods of drawing and painting the human body.

Grigor recently returned from his studies in Florence, Italy at The Florence Academy of Art where he finished the three years painting program. He is currently working on portraiture and continuing the concentrated study of the human figure in anticipation and eagerness of creating multi-figural compositions.

Grigor CHilingarian and Arpi Azaryan are the founders of Opus Atelier in burbank, california. They provide the highest level of instruction in classical drawing and painting.

Their vision is to train individuals in the direct study of nature and the Old Masters as the foundation for great drawing and painting.
