Photo advice wanted please.

I have this photo, now I love it but what do the photographers here think about it?

Also do you think these photos are good enough for me to start a photo gallery?

A late afternoon street scene in Bristol.

Ash tree that is a popular climb for children, I really must catch some climbing it sometime. :)

ok steph, my views on your work, the first one of the houses is interesting, but there is too much clutter in the photos, the cars dont add much, and with the angle you have taken it from, you have the colourful houses shunted over too the right, and too much dark stuff on the left, which does nothing for the picture. you might want to wait until the light is facing the buildings as they are a bit dulled down for such bright colours.

The second picture is much better, the composition is good, but try not too cut the grasses off too much at the bottom and you may have too many leaves in the shot, i would zoom in more between the tree's and grass to the boats, as you need a focal subject in a photo like this, a good effort nonetheless.

The ash tree doesnt do anything for me. at all, keep working on composition and form, i wouldnt advise sticking these in a gallery yet, i would say just keep on shooting and putting them up here for critiques for a while so you can hone your skills a bit more, a good start though. Please email me or post here if you need any help or think i am chatting crap :D

What camera you shooting with?

mikes hit alot of nails on the head. the first image could be 100% better if you just found a way to go and take the pic when there weren't cars there - or at least not the one in the foreground.

get some kids in that tree and it will add more interest to the observer who may not necessarily have any connection to the tree itself. keep shooting steph!

:D Thank you Mikey, wish I could go back to Bristol for some better shots, but it doesn't look like it any time soon :)

The middle picture is taken like that because of some barbed wire just below the shot, too much of it to make getting rid of it a very difficult job. And I don't like marshes LOL!

It was just one of those cheap point and shoot jobs, £15 from a well known chemists LOL! It's gone in the bin now, as it was letting in light and ruining any photos.

So that and the fact I don't have a scanner any more is the reason I haven't added any of my drawings or painting recently. And I have been too busy to finish my digital picture :(

Again thank you for the advice, I didn't think they were good enough, but I wanted some honest opinions on them first :)

"good enough" is in the eye of the beholder, Steph... great idea to get critiques, but don't let that stop you from posting! {my most humble opinion}
