Book Rejection Question

We have received several nasty e-mails from very upset people lately that were rejected for the upcoming book. We have seen a bunch of discussion on the message board about it as well. We thought it would be good to ask everyone if perhaps we overlooked something and that some of you have a solution to our problem. Here's our delema...

700 artists want to be in the book and are willing to pay for it. 680 of these artists are very talented and deserve to be in the book. However, we only have room for 200. We will have to reject hundreds of talented people, including many paying members of our site.

If this was your website, how would you fix this problem and make everyone happy?

Perhaps one of you has a solution that we are missing. Please let us know...

Keep the comments coming everyone. We will post our thoughts once we have seen more feedback on the topic from others.

To answer the questions about the book committee, our staff is the only people that knows everyone on the committee. Not even the committee knows who else is on the committee (except for a few that have revealed themselves on the message boards). There was no indication of a premium member or committee member when they were voting on portfolios, so we could not play partial to anyone. Even our staff has not taken the time to see who in the committee submitted artwork and who was accepted or rejected. It will be interesting to see, but being on the committee did not tip anyone's favor of being accepted, nor did having a premium account. More info on the subject coming soon...
