New Personal Sub-Galleries

We have added a new 'Personal Sub-Gallery' feature to our website for our Premium Members. This new feature allows you to split apart your portfolio into multiple sections. You can now have a different portfolio page for sketches, photographs, digital work, traditional work, etc. You decide how you want to split apart your portfolio and what to name each section. You can have as many Sub-Galleries as you like for each type of art you want to upload.

If you are a premium member, there is a new section for Sub-Galleries on the screen where you upload or edit your images. Simply select your desired sub-gallery from the drop-down list, or create your own. Once you have 2 or more sub-galleries, your main portfolio page will change to give the user the option to select the sub-gallery they want to view. They can always click back to your 'main menu' or simply surf the images in a specific category.

If you have been wanting to break apart your portfolio into different categories, it's simple to do. Just click on the MANAGE PORTFOLIO button in your members area, then click on the EDIT button to make changes to the image you selected. Pick your new sub-gallery for the image and repeat this process for each image you want to categorize.

This new feature does not effect your custom portfolio layout or background image, these will all stay the same. To see an example of our new sub-galleries, click here.

On a related note, we have added page numbers to everyone's portfolio that has over 10 images. Because of this, we have reduced the number of images on screen - which makes your portfolio page load much faster. The number of images per page, depends on your thumbnail settings and if a custom layout has been chosen by the artist. You still have the option to VIEW ALL images on one page, but this is no longer the default view. The images in your portfolio are sorted from newest to oldest.

We hope everyone enjoys these new features - they have been requested by many of our members. Also, if you haven't upgraded to a Premium Account yet, maybe now is the time? You can do this on the UPGRADE ACCOUNT button in your members area. Have fun!

We have fixed the error that was happening on the portfolio pages. It wasn't happening to everyone, just the people that had not selected a specific thumbnail size to view on ArtWanted.com. We have now set a default so that this error does not come up.

We do a lot of testing, before we launch any new features, but there are only so many scenarios that we can go through. We are not able to test our site with hundreds of different computers, security levels and preferences that effect the way our website reacts to individual users. For this reason, when something new goes live, you can expect a bug or two the first few days, which we quickly work on to get resolved.

As far as the sub-galleries go, this is 100% optional. If you don't like the way it works or don't want it, you don't have to use it. It's just an option for those that want to use it. We have created it from the many suggestions and requests to do what we have done. This is why we didn't have a survey, because it's not a required function.

Hopefully this answers your questions, thanks for your feedback.

The 'View All' page is currently working if you don't have a custom layout selected. We are working on the 'view all' option for custom layouts and it will be working in the next few days.

We are also working on a new page that will allow you to quickly select subgalleries on all of your images at once, which should speed up the time.

We apprecaite your feedback, this is not the final version. We will continue to modify it until we can get it the way it was invisioned. Thanks.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, keep them comming.

We are experimenting with several new layout options for the sub-gallery page and will make them available soon.

We wanted to let everyone know of a few things we added today to the new Premium Account Sub-Gallery function.

1) We added the 'View All' link on all of the pages, so that the user can elect to view all of the images on one page.

2) We also added the 'sub-gallery quick links' to the left column of the portfolio page. This allows the user to quickly jump from one sub-gallery to another without going back to the main menu. In order to place this on the top of the screen, we hid the artist bio and self portrait on sub-pages (which was kind of redundant anyway).

3) We fixed a few bugs that were happening if you clicked on sub-galleries that contained funky characters or that were uncategorized.

Additional updates are coming in the next few weeks to make this new feature even better. Primarily the layout of the 'main menu' page that will allow you to change layouts as well as the images displayed. We will also be adding a quick way for you to categorize your images into sub-galleries and rename existing sub-galleries. Stay tuned and keep the feedback coming...
