Getting weird with a portrait of Siobhan; please review.

This is a portrait of a young woman that started out as a basic painting of the person. However as it progressed I realized that the pose was awkward and unflattering. So I set it aside and left it for a couple of weeks. When I returned from an out of town trip ...having thought about the painting while traveling, I made some significant changes. These being the implied electronic circuit board and the background that emerges from the circuit board to the frazzled space...

It's very painterly with a modern touch. The eyes are really good. Cool.

Thanks ... I didn't like it after I finished the basic painting.... so I put it aside for a while. When I came back to it... I made a lot of changes.

You succeeded both a good portrait and a good composition at the same time.

I like the seperation in the backround. I dont understand but I see an attempt at a dreamy cubistic style on the outside...very good! Jim

thanks Jim... I don't know what I was trying to do. My wife constantly tells me that I should loosen up and paint modern...Bla...bla..bla...

So I painted the portrait first... and decided that the pose sucked... so I had to do something to save the painting.

She is a performance art painter and one of her paintings was of a circuit board... so I decided to incorporate her personality into the painting...then I just played with the paint a bit on the rest of it
