Children's book illustrations?

Hello! I'm new here- I'm looking to improve on my work.

Many people that I know, besides friends, have told me that I should be a children's book illustrator and I've actually been given a couple of contacts for agents. I'm currently a selling artist, locally.

What I'm wondering is if my work is really actually on that level yet. I cannot see it as others do. What can I clean up? What's good and what's an eyesore?

I believe personally that you are on that level. I love your use of color and organic shapes.

To do book illustration, it's good to have your own style. And for kids books, a fun style. This looks very fun and purple. I'm sure the original looks better than this shot, but you might consider using the opposites of purple more in this and more highlights that would pick out the things you want us to look at most. The way the fire is highlighted (use more orange & yellow there). I love the landscape. I can't make out the central figure but overall, sure, this could be a good book illustration.
