Selling has to do with buying thing or paying a bill or two but I don't think it is at the core of Art for most people. It is hard to find people willing to hang money on there walls. What is a thousand dollar painting but a thousand dollars hung on a wall. A bit simplistic perhaps but I thnk you get the idea.

Right Cole. A painting illustrating the image of a thousand dollars might be worth a thousand dollars if you were to use real gold....but not paper money. aPeople buy what art reflects their interests and ambitions and that which moves them emotionally I suppose. We artists have no idea about it though except to make our work interesting at least to ourselves first.

Cole; good idea- show a thousand dollars in plexiglass in an artful way. It should be worth at a minimum $1000.00. I've used gold in art but never tried to pan the value of the gold off onto buyers...that would be getting into the level of a carnival act; complete with a dog headed lady.
