Oils 16" x 20" I post this with hesitation because it scares me a little that I would spend so much time painting it!!!

Thanks, you, two. I painted it from a photograph--- now my own. I loved the rhythms, the contrast, the loneliness, the mystery. It suited me, yet was most difficult to execute because of the precision required--- very difficult in oils for me.

It reminds me of a staircase i saw in a 1940s movie. I like it, good job.

There's some inner meaning for you in it, i'm sure. This has happened to me a few times - a compulsion to paint something with no idea why except it was the right thing to do. You've expressed all the patterns, flow and angles well - doesn't matter if it's accurate. Just makes a great picture for your viewers. If you just titled it that way to have a title, you can change that. It's a Study in Contrasts and Shadows? Nice one.

This is gorgeous! I love the angle you decided to take on the staircase. The colours add depth to the picture. At first, I really did think this was a photograph. The shadows are spot on. The shading is absolutely gorgeous. the top section of stairs aren't all equal, but that adds characteristicto the piece. This really is amazing. Good job!

It's a remarkably intriguing painting - the black & white is simple yet classic - great job.
