I love doing portraits and would like to increase the number of orders that I get.

How do You advertise Your work?

I currently use social media (facebook page) and local online classifieds (South Africa), the free options basically. Is it worth to put an advert in local newspaper? or should I rather contact galleries? or do a google add?

Please share- what works for YOU?

Hi Ritma,

Do you have business cards, a website (other than Facebook or ArtWanted)?

If you can, create flyers with example of your work and start posting them everywhere. Hand business cards to people. Create portraits for family and friends and ask them to start spreading your name to their friends and family.

You're on the right track. Be persistent and don't be afraid of rejection. Keep knocking on doors so to speak. People will start answering. I love your work btw. Good Luck.

Make deals with photo studios, wedding business, anyone that has contact with potient portrait opportunities and offer them 40% on each sale. Also look at offering themes like children on the beach, adults in classical paintings in addition to your current offering.

Thank You Ricky and Lajo,

I already do all of everything, but to scared to put too much money on one card... I guess it is a gamble after all...
