WEll I can not believe no one added any temps. Yesterday was a record breaker around here. If Syracuse NY here in the Northeast reached 109 ,i can not imagine what the rest of the world was like. here we are at 9:30AM on a Friday morning and we are already at 81 they are saying we will reach high in the 90's. i have both air conditioners running......they have been going since 7:00. .well folks i'm going to take it easy today,,,,, If my posts stop .that is a good indication that i did not make it. lol hugs

martha, here in tucson az, we're thrilled with the weather...it's only been in the low hundreds and we're getting monsoon activity almost daily. it's all relative! having said that, we're prepared and equipped. my heart goes out to all who have endured without warning or preparedness....

Martha Miller 22 Jul 2011

Someone told me today that it will last 7 to 10 days. I will try not to complain. I'll think of winter when it is in the single digits and wishing it were warmer. I shall survive.....LOL

It's so hot here that farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard boiled eggs and the cows are giving evaporated milk.

I saw two trees fighting over a dog.

today I saw a chicken lay a fried egg.

It's so hot that it makes me want to take off my skin and sit in my bones.

It was so hot today I saw a funeral procession pull into a Dairy Queen, later I saw an Amish guy buying an air conditioner.

Birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

Potatoes cook underground, so for lunch you just pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.

You eat hot peppers to cool your mouth off.

When the temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.

You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You discover that it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.

Even the sun was looking for some shade!

I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were both walkin'..

Calista Flockhart of "Ally McBeal" was spotted eating some ice cream. And she almost ate a second spoonful.

Its so hot, that a disoriented Bill Clinton hit on Hillary.

It's So Hot....... Jehovah's Witnesses started telemarketing!!

you can wash and dry your clothes at the same time!

Martha Miller 23 Jul 2011

Martha Miller 23 Jul 2011

I had to come and post this ..I Thought it was funny and just had to share it. Since this heatwave started, I have had my windows covered to keep as much of the heat out as possible. My sons come to see me and of course after being out in this bright sun cannot see a thing once inside. My youngest came in this morning and made me look into his face while he asked me if i had turned into a vampire.then proceeded to tell me that if i had not reached that goal yet,i was about to happen. lol

Our heatwave was chased away by a lousy cold front, starting with a night of continuous storms. I am a bit fed up, I like summer to be summery. I suppose it is less enervating to work at home when there isn't a heatwave.

Martha Miller 23 Jul 2011

Where do you live Lynda ? Is you storms coming towards the northeast? Perhaps it will be warmer tomorrow for you.

marlene burns 23 Jul 2011

today was our 41st day over 100. it's all relative!! notthat i am complaining, our humidity is almost non-existent..and ittruly makes a huge difference..you don't sweat.

Martha Miller 24 Jul 2011

Humidity places a big part in our sweltering heat, If our temp is 85 we may have humidity as high. You are right about sweating......It pours off of us like we are standing in a shower. . Ans twice as bad if we are working at something. all i can say is lucky you Marlene .Btw a tad cooler today 73.

marlene burns 24 Jul 2011

you know,s weating is one's body's way of dealing with the heat....it just seemsthat if you're in a climate and soaking wet, something is kaflooey!

Lynda Stevens 24 Jul 2011

Budapest Hungary, Marta. Notin the States. The pattern in the last few years seems to be blasts of heat with temps of between 35 and over 40 degrees, then a cold front rolls in and there is wetand misearbale weather, like right now. I just want to see the sun back.

Martha Miller 24 Jul 2011

I Hope you get some. If i could send you some i would. It didn't get to hot today It did make it to 85. But there is a slight breeze that makes it tolerable. Heres hoping your weather improves soon. hugssss

Beatrix Jahn 24 Jul 2011

Geeeeeeeeeze!!! Germany is experiencing the coldest and wettest July in a sillion years. Some have even had to turn on the heaters! As of Thursday we will have a week of 20-24°C - woopydoo! "Summer" is coming back. In late Spring we had a heat wave, where the city asked the people to give water to the trees in the street! Now you come! Is the climate going nuts or not?!!!

Lynda Stevens 25 Jul 2011

Thanks Marta. It is certainly tipping down today. Miserable. Oneof the reasons I never went back to the UK is becasue of jetstream, mostof the time Summer gerts cancelled andI always used to find that so disappointing. But the summers here are getting preety weirdnow.

Martha Miller 25 Jul 2011

The weather here in New York Has gotten weird for the last 4 or 5 years. I have noticed a radical change. We had nothing but rain for the last three summers i could count on one hand the days of sunshine .last year the day would start out with sunshine but before lunch it would be raining. I will say that all vegetation was lush and green. we were mowing our lawns twice a week. this year we don't have that to worry about. it is all burned off. All i can contribute it to .....is the damaged ozone .

To add to the heat, our winters have been brutal .we had 6 months of snow last year. I hope we don't get a rerun of that . I don't mind the snow all that much........It's the high fuel bills that kill me.

RQ Trietsch 25 Jul 2011

Here in So. Cal we've been on a roller coaster high 70's to high 90's then repeat except haven't seen anything in the 70's lately except first thing in the morning. Today's forecast is 95 with a chance of showers or thunder storms.
