Are we going to be able to search for particular items: artists, genre, title, medium?

Will there be music....I can actually hear? I never was able to get the real player to work on the Haunted House.

Sounds like a fun idea............

Vanessa Hughes 15 Nov 2006

Same deal for me with the real player

Patty Fuller-Sturman 15 Nov 2006

Great Idea!

All the best,

Patty

*smiles and dances* I couldn't participate in the hallowen thingie, cause not even Vidar peridot was scary enough, but I can't wait to participate here! I just did a light sketch of a small baby dragon poppoing out of a christmas present! I can't wait to finnish it! Its gonna look sooo cute!

Barbara Reid 16 Nov 2006

Hi Christene, I was reading your comments in relation to the Holiday theme to be posted on AW and I just could not get it. What is it that "baby dragons" popping out of a Christmas gift have to do with the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ, who was born that we may celebrate Him? HE IS THE GIFT!! Your drawings would definitly fit Halloween and all its gories, but not Christmas. I will be looking for your reply for further insight.

Gayla Drummond 16 Nov 2006

Personally, I'd love to have a gift full of baby dragon under my tree. =)

Can't wait to see it,Christine!!

Barbara, no offense meant, but not all of us are Christians, so Christmas may not mean to many of us what it means to you. It may just mean a time for giving and loving, without any religious overtones.

Cristina Marsi 16 Nov 2006

I posted a few paintings, but after i clicked on the "submit" button, i was dragged again to the page where you choose the paintings... how can i be sure i actually posted and you received them? A success/failure message would be of some help :)

Terry Bassett 16 Nov 2006

Hi Barbara..

As Gayla said, "not all of us are Christians"

I celebrate Yule myself and I'd be delighted to see Christene's baby dragon..:-)

Dan Perez 16 Nov 2006

I bet the baby Jesus would have loved if one of the three wise men brought him a dragon. After all, burning frankincense and myrrh can't be all that much fun for a kid.

Christene Laroche 16 Nov 2006

please, my real name is Kelsey, so call me Kelsey. I used my grandma's name for saftey reasons.

Barbera,I understand that Christmas has more then one meaning, including the root meaning of Jesus's birth. This isn't a gorey type thing like I often do, its a cute type thing. I just finnished him and I even named him Scales. I personally think Scales is cute. I was going for the gift rap and toy in a box type theme with Christmas, rather than God, Christ, and the whole nine relegious yards. Don't take offence, I'm not a firm believer in that stuff, but i do pray every now and then for the good of myself and my friends. I prayed just recently for an old lady i know who's going through some tough times. Dragons may be stuff of nightmares all the time, but I wish to give dragons a twist for what I believe they really are, creatures that can be cute as young, brave or ferocious as adult, and wise as old. This is more expressional than anything else. I do not wish to offend any relegion at all, only to express myself and my beliefs on classic legend, and so, Scales popping out of a present box was a good though of mine, unique, cute, and colorful. heres what it looks like, not scary or gory at all.

DebraAnn Kasimakis 16 Nov 2006

Some of you are.....how can I put this.....amazing.

You ever heard of....t-o-l-e-r-e-n-c-e?

It is a wonderful time of year....especially if it makes folks feel kind toward each other. Who cares if she wants to make a cute dragon coming out of a "Christmas" present........WTF?

I don't believe in any of the stupid religions on this creator forsaken planet.......It's not even the end of the year really.....all that crap is man made. So.....be nice to each other...

You don't need an excuse of....RELIGION!

Peace Out...............................

Christene Laroche 16 Nov 2006

I don't have any real religion either, but you should be a tad more respectful toward those who do. I respect religion, except for dragon slaying type stuff. Part of the reason I don't do religious stuff is because its hurtful to some.

Gayla Drummond 16 Nov 2006

Yeah, I'd like to have a baby dragon like that under the tree for me this year! =)

Christene Laroche 17 Nov 2006

It would be perfectly nice in my opinion. I'm a bit..okay, more than a bit, of a reptile freak. i write about dragons, draw dragons, and play with lizards, and snakes, and turtles. I'm very passionate about these things, they make me unique, and art is not limited to reality, it is everything but reality.

About the God religion thing, I have good insight and i made a speech during some debate on dragon existence. Heres basically what i said : It doesn't matter whether magic exists or not. I would hate knowing they did. Life would be so boring if we would just look at something and say it does or doesn't exist. I enjoy the ability to wonder if dragons exist, if there is an afterlife, and if we have this big overlord creator. Besides, beliefs have a tendancy to help people. People have changed for the best when they believed in God. Believers in a pure being often idolize that being and try to be pure themselves. Before the gift of intelligence came the gift of wonder, so lets continue wondering.

Sry if my veiw on a Christmas scene upset you barbara, It wasn't my intention.

Pat 'Gracie' Merewether 17 Nov 2006

Barbara - scientists are still searching for answers about if dragons really did exist, etc. If they did, they were creatures of God - if you believe God created everything.

Over the millenia some "Men" deemed dragons evil or used them to portray evil - but this was done by MEN - nobody knows what the true deal is. Just like MEN used a snake to protray the devil in the Bible - as they are an easy metaphor for danger (if poisonous).

So, that being said, live and let live - how do you know what baby Jesus would have wanted? Also, newborns aren't usually intrested in anything but their Mama and her breast anyway.

lighten up.

Barbara Reid 17 Nov 2006

And now that I have everyone's attention..

It is not about religion, but Christ. Would there be such a thing as Christmas had he not come, is the question? Even AW is saying "Holiday Artwork Gallery," so as not to offend anyone, rather than "Christmas Artwork Gallery." Who took Christ out of Christmas? Will somebody please stand up for the TRUTH?

Oh, and for all you dragon fans, read the book of Revelation in the Bible. They may not be coming out of a gift box, but they are coming.

Christene Laroche 17 Nov 2006

I still understand Christ in all. I just celebrate the family part of it really. Its the only time most of my relatives come together. The gifts are only less than half of it, I've grown up with little, not saying I'm poor, I just don't have i-pods or every game out ther, and then the "hardening period" of my life took toll on me and my attitude. I barely give a dam about the gifts now, I don't even know what I want by Christmas. On my list, all I have is art supplies, paper, and one specific video game that I'm not expecting. I feel pathetic. -__-

Randall Kane 18 Nov 2006

Hi gang! Is it me or this supposed to be about sharing our artwork with each other and the world. Perhaps questions and opinions about religion would better suit another site. My views on religion are private and I just want to appreciate my fellow artists' talents on AW, not neccesarily evryone's views on religion. Can we try to keep this site light and fun?

Oh, and Happy Holidays to all!!!!

Terry Bassett 18 Nov 2006

"And now that I have everyone's attention.. "

Please climb down from that Soap Box..:-)

"Oh, and for all you dragon fans, read the book of Revelation in the Bible. They may not be coming out of a gift box, but they are coming."

Coming?? I hadn't noticed they'd left...:-)

Gayla Drummond 18 Nov 2006

Yeah, we would be celebrating a holiday at this time, even without the birth of Christ back then....there were plenty of people/tribes/clans who celebrated at this time of year. It'd be Christmas by another name.

And if you're talking about Christ, aren't you pretty much talking about religion? =)
