ArtCardsWanted.com Update

Two months ago, we started up a new website dedicated to art cards (ACEOs), because of the growing interest from artists around the world and our own members. Although the ArtCardsWanted.com site is very new, it's already been a great success.

Art card sales on this site started on the first day and are increasing every week. In fact, every day we sell at least one art card from the members of the site. As the website traffic continues to grow, we know that the sales will also increase for the artists that have joined the site.

We invite all members of ArtWanted.com to check out this new site if you have not already. Membership is free and we will even send you a free 2.5 x 3.5" art card in the mail, just for signing up.

For those that are already members of the site, we wanted to let you know about a small update to the website. Today we added two new ACEO printing options to the site that have been requested. The first is a bulk art card printing option to print 500+ cards at the same time, at a big cost savings. The second new option is the ability to order a set of random Premium cards from the artists on the site. For more information on these new options, check out the following page:

www.ArtCardsWanted.com/Prints

We will continue to update the ArtCardsWanted.com website with new features and options that will increase the popularity of art cards. As always, we welcome your suggestions and we invite everyone to start your collection of art cards today!

That's great!

I do have a question, though. =)

Is there any chance you could offer some smaller bulk packages? I don't know about the others who are selling ACEOs/ATCs, but if I ordered 500 of one, I'd probably still have stock 5 years from now, lol.

Say, something like:

250 for $69.95 (.28 per card)

100 for $29.95 (.30 per card)

50 for $17.95 (roughly .35 per card)

Honestly, I'd probably order either the 50 or 100 cards packages, when building up stock to sell. Storing 500 of 2-3 different cards would be a problem, at least for me. =)

Of course, admittedly, if you could find people who'd buy in bulk from you (meaning the artist), that 500 card pack would probably be the big choice.

Thanks for your comments.

The 500 pack of cards really for promotional, marketing or mailing efforts. It's doubtful that anyone would sell 500 of any one card in their lifetime.

We are always looking into other printing options that we can pass on to our members. The problem with smaller runs that you have suggested is that there is very little price break when your volume increases, because it's done digitally. At the same time, it's too costly to do small runs of 50-200 when you are doing CMYK offset printing. A small run of 200 would cost the same as 500.

The quantity you are looking at is too expensive for digital and for offset printing, so we have not found any printers that can offer this solution at this time. However, wil will continue to look and let everyone know if these options become available.

I agree - I still have 1900 of the 2000 business cards I had to buy when I was selling antiques - lol.

I'm in the process of getting my print program photos ready. Can you sign up for the art card site and use the same photos or do you summit new ones?

Gayla Drummond 25 Jun 2006

You can use the same ones, but you'll need to resize them to fit (there's a page on there that gives you the image dimensions).

Good luck! =)

Thank you much Gayla!

Here is the link to a new page we have created about preparing your images to print art cards (ACEOs).

No problemo, Pat. =)

Thanks for the link, staffperson! =)

I think that cropping page will help others. Mine came out with the year cropped off my photo. I got a whole pack of these. I guess I'll only use them for trading. Live and learn I guess.

I have a printer that would possibly do your short runs. They are out there. This talk about digital 4 color being expensive "and we can only do small runs of 500" is talk of the past. It's old school. Print on demand is what's going on out there in fine art and in other areas of print media.

FYI: in the world of marketing and advertising, there is this thing called "testing." Sometimes we test in smaller batches (a small test market group) instead of incurring a large expense for something that isn't quite 100 percent.

It's worth thinking about.

There are ways to make the smaller runs a win-win for you and the artists.

I'd be glad to help.

I'd like to make blank greeting cards from some of my photos. Does artcard provide this, or perhaps some of the newer options on AW print program?

ArtWanted.com Staff 05 Jul 2006

We do plan to start offering greeting cards this month as part of the expanded print program.

cool

thx

Christine Bennett 28 Aug 2006

This must sound terribly dumb, but how do you become a member of ArtCardsWanted? I can't find a sign up page.

Susan Aleksic 28 Aug 2006

To the question of sign up...look under the selling menu, it's in there.

From what I saw we can list, and produce our own, and ship our own listings, correct?

I have one of the best Epson printers to produce my work on quality papers. So a lot of sites, including this one, I do not need the print services. I currently have ACEO limited editions and Originals for sale along with my angels series 16 x 20 prints limited editions. Also photography.

Thanks, Susan

Christine, from the home page, click on the "sell" tab up top. Now in upper left it says "join now".

Christine Bennett 30 Aug 2006

Thanks Susan and Joan! I never thought to look there...usually websites have a big "Join Now" button :-)

I checked the site out, nicely done AW! I see the random ACEO's set of 10, 1 yours, 9 random artist for just under $10, great price. Would love to see a larger set if artists could designate cards to be selected for this, to limit which art of theirs could be used in the random sets. Would be fun to have the 500 set to use as a teaching tool for schools, for my part, to encourage young artists. They love examples of art, but it's so costly to get books. The cards would be "cool" for them to see, and I'd donate a set to a local school or 2 at my cost, even have it shipped directly there to them, if you wanted it to be so. Don't know if this would be okay with AW or AW artist. Just a thought I'm popping out. Many schools have volunteers teaching art history and appreciation now due to all the cuts in funding for art programs in schools. I'd get the art teacher or even classroom teachers a set, they laminate to preserve them, and the students would go nuts. I'm printing out my own work like this at the moment, just setting to do it, but it's a bother to do it myself time wise. Just a thought here.

Hi there!

So I ordered some prints a bit ago - on Oct. 9th to be exact, and I made the payment on Oct. 9th and since then - I can't seem to get a hold of anyone at ArtCardsWanted to see what the status is for my order or get an answer to my multiple emails requesting information as to the status of my order. :(

Isn't there some way that I can check my account and my order status and history on that site or this site? How does a customer normally check up on how their order is doing or where it is at currently?

And like approx. how long should it take to fulfill an order and get it in the mail? 1 week? 2 weeks? Longer?

About how long should it take if all things go well with the mail .. from order to delivery? How do you normally communicate about the order? How long does it normally take for an email response?

I'm just asking for future reference so I know how long I should be patient - if it normally takes 2 weeks, I would then know to not even think about it until it hit a week or two longer than that. lol

This discussion continues on the next page...
