Work in Progress.......

Hello everyone, yes back again!

Im working on a new project, its my winged tiger! I love wildlife and fantasy so I just added them together. As you can see its not finished, hence "progress" I was just wondering your thoughts, anything to help improve it as I paint along.

The bottom area I was thinking of adding more pines trees making them larger as they get close to the front of the painting. And of course add some snow on the main rock formation. But Im not sure, do you think I should add more rock formations lower in the picture where the blank space is to the left, or maybe just tress??

Well anyway its oil on canvas panel 20 by 24 inches

Cool Concept Candace! I think you are on the right track with adding the trees , but i think i would leave out more rock formations? the main one is really well done, Maybe add some really sparse golden grass?? or shrubbery nothing to lush? I can't wait to see the finished piece! keep up the great work!

Thanks very much for the comments so far, I guess he an artic tiger, although I would think then hed be white in color, but I really wanted the tiger to pop out so hes orange :P

I do think I will add more tress that are taller in the forground and some touched of yellow grass, not to much though. Im sure it will be great when its completed, Im already getting very attached to this peice.

Excellent stuff there, very imaginative there, looking good so far

How about a partial tree branch over hanging from the left. Might add depth and give a size relationship

Hmmm, Im not sure about that, I want the tiger to appear to be closer to the front of the painting, kind of before the trees as if hes sitting on top of a rock formation so he appears higher.

Hmm Ill have to think about that. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I love this! I love winged cats, and i love tigers. So of course i love this painting!!!

I like how it looks with the rock he is on just sticking up alone like that. Makes it feel like he is watching over the land. He is above it all.

I don't know that you really need to add much else. Sorry i might not be much help. But i love this so far. I really want to see the finished piece!

Michelle,

Thanks so much!! All that enthusiasm made me feel good he he. Im glad you like it; I think adding wings to pretty much any animal makes them so much cooler lol.

The painting is getting very close to completion, in fact ill probably finish it today, Iv done more work since the picture posted.. I guess soon Ill have to post another :P

This is a very nice piece. I see, however, a lot of lines leading my eye from the upper left to the lower right. The tip of the tiger's tail helps to stop my eye from going right out of the picture, but I think if you softened the edges of the rock in the lower right corner, it would help even more to avoid this. Keep in mind where you want the viewer's eye to go...softer lines allow the eye to slide over the area, hard ones draw it. I think if you softened the edges of some of the values/lines in the background mountains, too, it might help.

Your tiger is so beautiful! What a marvelous concept of the wings. His colors are fine...draws the viewer right in.

Thanks very much for the comment. Iv done allot of work since my last post here. Iv added in a bunch of trees in the foreground but in the background of the main rock.

The rock formation the tiger is standing on is now more detailed with harder lines so that the tiger really pops out at you and I think it helps keep the viewers eye in the area. Over all in the end I think there are so many focal points your eye in drawn everywhere lol, But its still a nice picture I think. Ill be posting a updated image soon :)

I remember that whole line thing from my high school art teacher, I need to try and remember that!!

Ok I have a new picture for you to see, another progress picture, it looks done but Im still undecided, although at this point im not sure what esle to add besides my signature.

Much improved! Very good use of the trees...that gives it lots more depth.

Thanks very much, Im pleased with it, I lightened up a tad on the cracks in the rock and added my signature. I wonder what's going to escape from me on canvas next he he!!
