Thanks again for the feedback, keep it coming. More answers to your questions...

The images that are posted on our site are not high enough quality for printing even an 4x6 print. If you will want to participate in this program, you will need to upload higher-res versions of your artwork.

We have yet to determine if there will be a fee to have a 'print' account. We know this is common on other websites, but we are still determining the costs to launch this program and the ongoing costs of hosting and bandwidth for these high-res images. The setup fee is yet to be determined.

As far as upload speed goes, this will just depend on your Internet connection, and won't really have much to do with our site. If you have a fast connection, you will be able to upload pictures fast, if not, then it will be slow. We may also have a way for you to send us a CD of your high-res images.

As far as how checks will be cut. We will offer a PayPal option for those that want instant cash, but we will also have the option for us to mail out a check on a regular basis. You will also be able to use your funds to purchase other prints or services from our site.

Please continue to post your questions and thoughts, thanks.

How will the pricing be decided? Will AW decide on a base price per print size, then allow each artist to do a markup?

Or will AW decide on pricing per print flat out?

=)

Bob MacPherson 09 Jun 2005

I think each artist's assessed value of his own work, will of course have to factor in, as it does now; then adjusted to Aw costs, etc. Will be interesting, but a great step forward.

Now all the for sale marked images are available at printswanted serch engine, there should be two options 1-,original work for sale. 2-,prints for sale.for artist at FOR SALE form.

No details on pricing yet, still working that out. :-)

me too

A terriffic idea! Ditto the combination with PW. This is what I love most about AWyour awesome ideas. Would you consider price breaks for artists purchasing their own work for resale in larger qtys? I do outdoor shows and am starting my own garage gallery. Prints sell better than originals in this region. Thanks for a chance to get into the black.

John Jarrell 11 Jun 2005

Get your pricing together......only problem is the folks like myself on the east coast would absorb tremendous shipping costs.

Randy Schwanke 11 Jun 2005

I think that offering this as a option to the artists here with AW would benefit both sides.

It is hard to find a "real good" printing service, and if this were to be an option, it would make AW a contender in the ring, if you will.

I think adding a watermark that appears to the images that the artists allow prints for is really a must have, otherwise, there is nothing to prevent theft of an image for the artists. So security there would be a real issue for myself.

I've already had images swiped, not from here at AW, but other places, so I think that should also be addressed, while implimenting the other if the majority rules in favor.

Also, make this a feature awailable to subscribers only (paying members).

Randy

But if free members could use it, they might become paying members.

Devil's advocate, that's me. =)

I think this is an excellent idea, especially for those of us who are just beginning in the business of selling our artwork. It is a good way to "get our toes wet".

There have been some excellent questions asked and excellent ideas posted here.

I am definitely one of those who would join in. I will be watching this thread to see what progress is made.

Lynn Hentze 12 Jun 2005

That would be great! What would our split be? 60/40 or better?

Lynn Hentze 12 Jun 2005

also... in correspondance with the last AW post... would there be any way to encorporate a free print account if he artist is willing to give up more of the profit from the print?

ArtWanted.com Staff 13 Jun 2005

We are still working out the pricing details, so we don't have answers to these questions yet. :-)

lisandro pena 13 Jun 2005

This would be a great a idea and will bring artwanted to another level. It would be a great hit with all the artists here.

miles milton 20 Jun 2005

Great idea! You could also do framing....just a suggestion.

Randy Smith 27 Jun 2005

good idea. I think that sounds very nice and good!

Steve Wonegeshik 06 Jul 2005

Sounds perfect for me. That is exactly what I am trying to accomplish by getting into Artwanted. I will be looking forward to hearing more on this.

marc doutherd 06 Jul 2005

I think that its a wonderful idea. Especially for begining career artists who struggle with materials and living!
