Agree with Nicolaus. I also think that black & white is more expressive in some ways; color distracts your attention from rhythm and line sometimes. Besides, black & white helps you to concentrate on light effects. To me, light is more important than color.
I was inspired by the old oil illustators, who painted in black and white for printing purposes. Thought I'd try Frankenstien in just tonal values. It was a freeing experience. just a pile of white and a pile of black, on the pallet. I like it.
I always had black pens around growing up and paper so it just kinda became my thing. It's almost like a trademark of mine now I'm so comfortable with it and have came up with my own style that fits so well. I don't even sketch my work out with pencil just usually go do a one take with black ink and then darken and add in the shading at the end.

It's PERFECT!, it's raw, it's without distraction of hue. it's pure like a new born baby.
