My love for drawing began at a very early age. As a young boy I would sit at the table with pencil and paper and draw whatever struck my fancy. As I grew older I became involved in sports and other outdoor activities so I put the drawing aside. When the war came I went into the service and after I came out of the service I attended the Maryland Institute of Art. As time went by I got married and had a family. With working and taking care of a family of six children, there was not a lot of time for painting.

Many years later I remarried, retired and my wife and I moved into an apartment. Having been away from drawing for awhile I decided to attend art classes at a nearby Senior Center. I am especially drawn to landscapes and scenes of nature and I love to capture some of that extraordinary beauty on paper.

Then 'life happened' and I had open-heart surgery in January of 2006. During my recovery period I had a lot of time to paint and create. I have been told by many that my paintings have a lot of depth and warmth and seem to come from my heart, so I felt it was very appropiate to choose the name, "Creative Art From the Heart."

As the saying goes, one is never too old to follow their dream and do what they love. I am now in my eighties and inasmuch as I believe this is what keeps me young, I aim to continue to paint. Jay M. Mallonee
