I am an English Teacher, living and teaching in Athens, Greece. I am originally from Michigan where I graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Art Education and Studio Art. My main areas of emphasis were printmaking, painting and drawing, and jewellery making. I have always had an eye and interest in photography and recently since I have purchased a digital camera, I find this an easy way to create compositions that can be exploited on-line. I love to travel and take my camera with me everywhere. While living in Greece, I have also studied the Byzantine technique of egg tempera and have done some Byzantine Icon painting. This is a very challenging and precise medium that takes more than just 'skill' and 'knowledge.' You must also have a 'clear mind' and a 'pure heart' to really be able to paint astounding icons. I have not reached that level yet, but I love studying and finding unique and old icons around Greece. I have taken some very nice photos of these old icons and perhaps one day I will be able to share them with you here on artwanted.

Another medium that I enjoy, is water colour. It is not something that I actively pursue, but when my time is my own, I love to sit down and paint.

I admire the truly devoted and professional artist that has had the courage to sacrifice all other pursuits in favour of his or her art. I do not have the discipline to be a real artist. So, I just dabble and admire the work of others as well.

Since I have always had to work, I choose also to do a Master's Degree in Curriculum Development and Teacher's Education and specialize in teaching children who have reading difficulties and especially dyslexia. It is sometimes very difficult, but I try to bring Art into my lessons and you would be surprised how important of a role this has played in facilitating the gaining of reading skills. Art is really alway there teaching in surprising ways.

Without Art, man has no culture, no civilization, no true means of expression. The World cannot exist without ART.
