Artist Comments: "Watercolor is my media of choice for florals. It allows me to layer color to assure transparency in the flowers and yet be able to intensify the deep tones of leaves and shadows. My substrate is most frequently 140# hot-pressed Arches watercolor paper. I painted this cluster of golden yellow tulips as they bloomed in my garden. The background is purposefully abstracted to focus attention on the subject."
