Christmas 1963

This is a 18 x 24 x 1 1/2 canvas with oil paint. This painting is much more loose and spontaneous than my other work. I tried to capture the lightheartedness of a more innocent time. A time before cell phones, iPods, and computers. A time when we did not have a multitude of channels on our flat screened, plasma, high def, cable ready television. The black and white paint speaks of a time when we only had a few local channels to choose from, and the broadcast day ended with the film of the American flag bellowing in the wind while the National Anthem played in the background. This was followed by a test pattern, signaling bedtime for most of us. If your reception of this picture is fuzzy, try wrapping some aluminum foil around the rabbit ears !
