I have become slightly obsessed in exploring my Samoan culture, it's history and myths and legends. Through my current works I am exploring creation stories and Polynesian gods. This is the first in a series of images which depicts the creation of the world according to Samoan cultural understanding. "In the beginning, there was nothing"... is actually quite a difficult concept to illustrate, because unless you have a blank space..there will always be "something". Hopefully this image, whilst it contains a number of elements, still creates a sense of something about to begin...
