Wall quilt

This is a 20"x20" wall quilt I made for a 2009 quilt show. All quilts had to be based on a traditional quilt design but translated a new way. This quilt is based on the New York Beauty Block, returning to it's roots within the Statue of Liberty... but within the stars I have outlined the things changing this country... hence the name I gave it "New York Beauty Unraveled". Things like - Dying dreams, poverty, recession, child abuse, unemployment, political corruption, gay bashing, religious right, liberal left, welfare, illegal aliens, Wall Street bailouts, corporate greed, terrorist acts, global warming, elder abuse, identity theft, anti-Semitic, domestic violence, foreclosure, hate crimes, drug addiction, unjust wars, child neglect, homeless, recession, lost hope.... to name a few of the things changing the face of our country. There is random beading throughout the red and black background that does not show up in my picture. This quilt will be traveling until Sept 2009, and not available to a potential buyer until then, if interested in purchasing it, contact me regarding a down payment to hold it for you.
