Angel from the light - Ange de la Lumiere

Mixed of old masters' media and techniques and modern media on canvas 11” x 14”... this painting is part of the private collection of the artist. signed gdex in the right corner (private collection) ***My model is Tina Jones, she is one of the top international oil portrait painters and a good friend. For this project I used a photo with a strong back light as reference. I printed the photo and transferred the silhouette on the canvas with charcoal… then I traced the contour with a Sharpie oil pen. Then I painted the background with one coat of yellow acrylic paint… Since Tina Jones and I were both experimenting with home made egg tempera I painted the background with multiple thin glazes of tempera… For the figure I painted with a mixture of egg tempera and acrylic… Then I repainted over this with a mixture of oil and egg yolk… then I scraped what wanted to peel off, then did sgraffito to enhance light here and there… and applied more glazes of color with egg tempera on all the surface… I let dry one day and applied one coat of varnish with the egg white. This painting took 3 days to realize and was a good experience about mixing these mediums… My dry part is the oil pen… I added charcoal to add drama 2 days later.. I will frame behind glass for now and will varnish in a year. ...The colors are deep and unsurpassed by any other paint... This painting is as archival as any egg tempera painted by the old masters and will certainly last 500 years. Egg tempera paints like oil but it is dry within 2 minutes. This was another step into refining my techniques. This text is signed by the artist and is glued on the back of the original painting. October 31th 2008 _______________________________________ the price for the original would be $6,000 plus framing cost, packing, insurance and transportation charge from Trois-Rivieres, Canada. This artwork can be only be purchased directly from the artist. ___________________________________ I suggest this egg-tempera painting be looked closely by the investors in fine art, as it is the caliber to grow fast in value... Being 65 y'o, I am closer to ending my production. Purchasing a print could be the best option for the fine art amateur Thank you!
