Mark Smith how do you do the straight lines? | |
| Artist Reply: It is challenging particularly if the edge is a longer one. I'm not sure I can verbalize this well, but mainly I use a brush that is smaller, and make sure it's not too "loaded" so a lot of pigment doesn't rush down the bristles when it meets the paper. Make sure the paper is dry when you want to make a harder edge; when the edge you want is established, then you can blend the color behind it and it all kind of flows together, but not beyond the initial line you created...does that make sense? So in the shadow on this one I drew the bottom edge first where the contrast is most dramatic, then blended back toward the roof with a fairly wet brush, careful not to disturb that gray/white edge...then left it alone until it dried so the pigment's pretty even. Hope this helps... ? Thanks for visiting. | ||
