24 in. X 36 in., acrylic, oil, enamel, clay, cloth, wood, glass, playing cards and plastic toys, on canvas. In ancient times animal and sometimes human offerings were slaughtered and burnt on altars as food for the gods. It was the smoke that rose to heaven that gave the gods the nourishment that they required. We are ancestors of this tradition, and, while we may not make a conscious connection to our offerings and sacrifices as religious ritual, we are still keeping the gods fed on the constant war, death and destruction that moves through the world.
