1.5ton work, composed of concrete and steel, is an iconic form representing Tesla's determination and devotion to his work. The lightning bolt, which is formed of molded concrete, is emerging from the ground; the shape represents a form of alternating current. The lightning bolt also forms a staircase, a path to greater knowledge. Emerging from the upper tier of concrete is a human face formed from steel. The inspiration for the form of the face was drawn from the figures on Easter Island. The creators of the Easter Island figures and Nikola Tesla both made accomplishments far beyond the technology of their time. The clean arching lines of the face and overhanging brows with lack of detailed facial features reflect a fixed gaze of determination.
