The pioneer who brought electricy and industry to the Northeast dresses in leather jacket and hat like the local cowboys, to brave the rigors of the scrub savanna. The well mannered man who commanded the leather business in the city of Recife until 1911, had come to change the characteristics of the arid hinterland in the state of Alagoas by building his empire in the village of Pedra. Today the city bears his name. The painting is 62cm high and 46cm wide.
