The Planter City

(c)2007 I was sitting next to the large planter at my favorite restaurant where I sit nearly everyday, it's prickly bright green foliage rising well up from the dirt to overflowing the pot. Spotted with clumps of small red berries I sat outside the restaurant alone sipping my soda. A warm breeze with the sun reflecting off the surrounding buildings windows is replaced by a slow darkenning night chilly wind, I put on my jacket. "Prick me now if you can!", I say outloud to my potted green neighbor. My eyes close to blink and I turn to move aside the brickly green leaved branches and to my amazement gaze upon an inner urban world bustling with cars, lights and buildings. "But how?", I ask. "This is not possible!" And just then a beam of intense light blinds my eyes for a moment, and a moment later I'm on a corner of a busy intersection, people passing by saying, "Welcome!". Their words fill me with joy. I feel no pain anymore. I'm breathing the freshest air ever. A taxi pulls up to my curb, "I know where you want to go,...please get in." Feeling no feelings of hate, distrust, pain, or confusion,...but only overflowing joy, I get in. As if floating the ride is wonderful and fun. A short ride, the driver lets me off at at a familiar place. A small restaurant with patio tables. I get out of the taxi, "there is no fare, thanks for visiting,...bye!", the driver says pulling away. I sit at the corner table and immediately I'm pricked. I say, "Ouch!" as my eyes open as if from a long slow blink. I feel pain now, my body aches, the air is no longer fresh, the intense feelings of joy are fading and dimmed, people pass by but no greetings from anyone, I feel sadness, tears stream down my face, I turn to my prickly potted bright green friend and move the foliage aside. The city is not there. It's over, I'm back. I pray a prayer of thanks to Father in Jesus Name for the beautiful visit to His home. Amen. Everyone, have a good day! :O)
