Delmiro Gouveias house in the village of Pedra in the municipality of Água Branca. Till the arrival of the pioneer in 1913, the hamlet consisted of only five houses. Delmiro was the benefactor, the father, the king of all the arid hinterland region, in only four years building an electrical power plant and the Company Agro Fabril Mercantil, a sewing thread factory which employed more than 800 locals. He is a myth that lives on in the heart of the people of the hinterland.
