A new trail, a new adventure!!! There is something exciting each time we head out to somewhere we have never been before. What's the hike like?...what's the lake like?...are we there yet????? This is a well traveled trail off of Interstate 90, but in the fall, in the middle of the week, even on a warm sunny day, we ran into only 8 people the whole day. Most of the trail was in the darkness of the forest, allowing the occasional peek to the mountain across the valley. The first photo is that other side. (Needless to say, we were on the shady side of the valley.) Below us, a few hundred feet, is I-90, the main thouroughfare between eastern and western Washington. I must say that you hear the freeway for a long time during the 4 mile hike to the lake, but soon forget that it's there once you get moving. The second photo is my daughter in one of the openings in the forest. Where the sun gets thru the trees, you will find vine maple along with other undergrowth of amazing fall colors. This hike was over a week ago. I was on 2 more last week...will try to catch you up before more hiking this week. Thanks for coming with us....:)
