This is the THIRD of a
series about musical instruments.
The
trumpet (a "lip-vibrated"
instrument) is the highest brass
instrument in register, above the horn,
trombone, euphonium and tuba. I
chose for three valveless brass
instruments: the speed and tightness
of the lips, and the speed of the air
that travels into the instrument come
into play. The faster the air, generally
the higher pitch that comes out.
I thought that the old fashioned hand
pumped CAR HORN of my grandfather
should be part of this watercolor too!
The song "All Together Now"
from the Beatles ends with this hand
pumped horn.
Abstract watercolor on cold press
heavy weight paper 140 LB (330 g/m2)
Measurement 18"X24" (45.7X 61 CM)
Framed and matted.

This series of works has a stained glass quality to it. The shapes and colors form a harmonious whole, which is both figurative and abstract.Anonymous Guest 27 Jul 2008
