As part of my series on disfigurement and cancer, Juliet posed for me in 1998. It was only in the final sitting she chose to remove the patch from her eye. Designed as a triptych, each image reflects a different facet of her nature and her life. Despite her disfigurement Juliet remains one of the strongest and most beautiful women I know.

I really love the triptych thing you've got going on - it's amazing how powerful this picture is with both the eyepatch AND without. I don't think it would be quite as powerful without that extra element. I was doing some research on your work for my final year degree show - glad I discovered you and your work. Wonderful, moving stuff.cynthia berridge 20 Oct 2006

This is really a wonderful tribute to a brave and beautiful woman .......love this oil work so much ...and it shows us how unfair life can be , but nevertheless the message is it is worth it to live and umbrace it , isn't it ?Emily Reed 12 Oct 2006
