Wisdom

painted from an old dark hazy black and white photo, there was just something about e him that inspired me to paint , something about the wise look with his beaded vest and single white feather is what i always imagined a native elder or chief to look like . this was painted on a 12"by 14" inch porcelain tile. with oil based over-glaze china paints, and fired in a kiln at 820c six times. the paint is brought on layer by layer and fired between each layer to produce te finished result. this type of painting always is painted from light to dark leaving out the highlights so that they remain white. the brush types I use are mainly different sizes square shaders made of squirrel hair and a round pointer brush of sable to paint the hair textures. Hope you will enjoy viewing Wisdom as much as I did painting him. thank you for viewing. :-) nighthawk

This is totally amazing! One of the best pieces of work that I have seen here - well, anywhere really. The eyes fascinate me with their liquidity; the feather is fantastic, the skin and hair colour is perfect and the textures of the clothing is stunning. Thank you for giving me the pleasure of seeing this.
