Sculpture concept was derived from a combination of things. FIRST: an idea...the presence of one who looks over, or protects something....in this case the principles of how a person lives their lives, a reminder that a persons beliefs (what ever they may be) are the foundation of who they are. SECOND: an abstract version of David, King of Israel, who over came the giant. Standing by his beliefs, David overcame great odds. THIRD: an image in my mind of an Aboriginal hunter standing, looking out over the landscape; this is unique, for a lone hunter has only his principles and the effects of nature......without the bombardment of influences modern civilization has on humans to affect his direction. The outcome is an abstract design, which flows back into itself. The sculpture has a slight representation of a human form with an indication of something to its side; be it a sword (in reference to King David), the essence of life (a persons beliefs), or its own energy returning to the earth (the lone hunter). There may be two entities present with a relationship to one another, or just a single entity cycling back and forth, similar to the yin and yang. My main objective was to give a slight suggestion but not direct a particular impression. (A particular impression other than this description) Dimensions: 12.5 feet in height; circumference 3.5 feet Composition: formed, welded, polished steel. Completion date: June 2006 see website: http://www.carbon-studio.com
