..::Celtic Sunset::..

Impulsive ideas can be fun. I got the idea in my head to do a water color painting. Now, anyone that knows me knows that I have NNNNNNNEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR R claimed to be a painter of ANY KIND. I own various painting materials, but they intimidate me so much that I don't have the guts to use them. This bothers me because I come from not only a family of artists, but a family of PAINTERS. You should see a painting that my mother did of the "Last Supper." The one word I use to describe it is INTIMIDATION. I'm constantly begging painters to teach me how they do whatever-the-hell-it-is-that-they-do, and they look at me like I'm nuts. "You don't teach painting, you just do it and learn," is what they tell me. Well stick a fork in me, I'm done!!! I think that the best advice for this subject was given to me by my mother. She said, "Look at a painting as coloring a picture in Photoshop. Break things into seperate parts and use your layers to put it all together. It's putting together a puzzle." My visual learning skills immediately went into work and I knew what she meant. It doesn't mean that I jumped right into painting, but at least I got a perspective on it that I could understand. I guess this picture is sort of a step in a painting direction. At least I can say I tried, right?!?! It's a sunset in Ireland, with two Celtic crosses. I thought about putting three crosses, but I didn't want the picture to become iconic, you know?
