The mateus are figures of great importance to the Guerreiro, traditional folklore of Alagoas culture. They take off verses and dramatic plays, walking early to the streets announcing the accomplishment of the play in some place of the city. At night, during the trick, they divide the attentions with the Master, for being joking and to command the dance of the Boi (Ox).The picture measures 85cm of height by 60cm of width.
