I love the expectant smirk, and soulful gaze, like Rusty blue hits home for me, calming and intensely eye catching. Great portrait of a great author. metamorphosis is one of my favorites!

Hello David! I like this portrait. The colour blue always speak to something deep within me. I immediately feel calm and controlled whenever I encounter it. I like the way you've used it to paint the shadow. In fact all of the blue tones infuse the picture with an air of drama and expectancy. Kafka is gazing boldly, but not at us. Something else perhaps that we can't see. I've read Metamorphosis, The Castle, America and The Trial but I know few personal details about Kafka. Clearly a Cezch, Jewish perhaps, with those soulful brown eyes, and that wide, bony face suggests a July birthday. (must look it up). I think you must have been an impressionist painter in another life. This lovely painting is so evocative of that period. Brilliant artwork! Love it!
