Steps

I was in Ottawa with my Improv team and decided to take some pictures while on a walk through Parliment Hill, and I just happened to catch the bird swooping in the shot. Lucky!

I've decided it's an albino pigeon also known as a dove --unless that's just the light--and that all the people who don't like it with the Improv-ers are insane, except that im insane, so i can't judge. I love the super amazing contrast with the brite whites and deep blacks and soft grey textures. lucky coincidence your teammate there was wearing that black improv hoodie!

Good composition.... I am undecided on the bird.... it does distract, but it is interesting. I like the fact that they are not looking at the bird.

There's nothing like serendipity, is there? The bird balances the shot and adds interest and a little bit of tension. So I guess I'm disagreeing with the comment about cropping out the bird. Maybe you should make 2 prints and see which you like better. Wonderful shot.

I love this image as it is but if you were considering it for your portfolio I would be ruthless and say because of the birds proximity to the edge of the frame that it is best left out. It doesn't say if its hand printed or not but if it is then perhaps you have lee way, there may be a bit of excluded frame that you could utilize to balance it a bit if digital you could consider a crop to take it out as the exposure and saturation are so lovely in the rest of the shot, the greeys of the steps and building are so clear and well done they may be worth keeping, best wishes
