Mosaic lighthouse

After many months of eyestrain, the last of approximately 7,000 glass bricks has been placed in the 42" Currituck Beach Light Mosaic table at That Stained Glass Place. Approximately 20,000 pieces of glass make up this Fine Art Mosaic. The lighthouse bricks are shaded with 3/8 glass vitreous tiles and Uroboros art glass hand-nipped into 1/16th x 3/16th and 1/8th x1/4' pieces. The windows are 1/8 mirror. The sky background is Spectrum sky blue wispy strip cut then hand-nipped with the whiter pieces of glass placed together to form clouds. The pine tree branches were all cut and ground to achieve the long narrow needles. The willow branches consist of glass stringers bent with a torch and hand-nipped Youghigheny stipple glass. The willow tree at the base of the lighthouse is hand-nipped Youghigheny stipple glass with 5 different colors of grout. The trees on either side of the lighthouse upon close examination have actual leaf shapes made by hand-nipping triangles and then nipping two corners off. The edge of the table consists of handmade tiles alternating lighthouses and blank tiles fused and fire polished to create a smooth surface. There are 15 colors of grout throughout this Fine Art Mosaic. After being inspired by helping a young couple that came in for Drop-in Mosaic to make a lighthouse table (Hatteras) for a gift. I began cutting bricks for this Currituck Beach Light table on New Years Eve and finished it on Saturday June 25th . I hesitated to begin this project, however, the challenge of doing something unique in an art subject that is so overdone intrigued me.

I would imagine you must get a lot of glass slivers-I like the grass under the light house, it's pretty awesome!

This is absolutely amazing! The detail is outstanding! What incredible patience this must have taken. What is the full size of the piece? You might mention that in the side bar.
