Amazing photo ,an old weather beaten statue of an old man ,with an old tree,how befitting as they grow old together,,,,,is this anyone famous,,,,,,I've seen in many countries where they carve a face or even the whole front side of a person right into the tree,This is stunning how the branches in the summer full of leaves protect this Statue.Im quite sure this park has many stories to tell about this absolutely Amazing statue.

Artist Reply: Thank you AL . Yes this is a statue of the poet FREDERIC MISTRAL (1830 -1914) born in PROVENCE. MELLANE . South of FRANCE. HE was also an Essayist and Novelist . He was nominated 6 times before winning the Nobel Prize of Literature in 1904. In this representation HE missed his cane . This statue in located in PARIS in a garden called the JARDIN des POETES where many verses of poems and busts of famous poets such as VICTOR HUGO. BAUDELAIRE . ALEXANDER POUCHKINE ...... and many others are engraved on stones . I love this peaceful garden
