My tribute to this american icon, Mr. Rogers. He worked hard during his life to bring comfort and life lessons to children around America and the world. This portrait was done in colored pencils (mix of Caran d'ache and Faber-Castell polychromos) and on bristol paper. In early June of 2019 after 25 years of being an artist I decided to try out colored pencils. I'm not sure what made them catch my attention but I invested in the best set I could and I've spent nearly every single day since practicing. This portrait of Mr. Rogers was done 7 weeks after I tried the colored pencils. I have a ways to go still and am striving to continue to better my skills and eye for colors and textures but overall I'm thrilled with this finished portrait. It is merely my attempt to pay tribute to a man that represents much of the best in us.
