Athena was unique as gods went, for she had no mother. It is said that she sprang from her father's forehead fully grown and clad in armor... Perhaps her father, Zeus, actually built her... Also known as the Greek virgin goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. As Zeus' favorite child, she was the only one allowed to use his weapons including his thunderbolt. Athena was often symbolized as an owl.
