This is a colored pencil painting that I did based on a photograph that I took this past September when we visited Seattle and other parts of the Northwest. We visited the Chihuly Garden and Glass facility that is located next to the Space Needle. I was captivated by the reflections that appeared in the glass spheres that Chihuly had created. I was especially taken by this particular one, as we had just visited the Space needle. Seeing a reflection of the needle in the glass sphere shouted to be the subject of a painting to share with all of you. It is done on Dura-lar polyester film using Prismacolor Verithin pencils. Its dimensions are 8 inches X 12 inches. Enjoy two fantastic sights in one!

Great contrast- the natural and the semi-abstract. Congratulations.

Artist Reply: Tony: thank you so much for your great comment! I didn't think of it as semi-abstract, but you are absolutely right. The reflections off the ball give it that quality. I was so taken up in "reflecting" reality that I overlooked the abstractness of the reflection itself. Thanks again and I hope that you have a very happy and creative new year. Best regards, Will

Extremely challenging, Will. You know I like photorealism involving reflective surfaces. Great work. I've been to Seattle and seen the glass sculptures. Fascinating.

Artist Reply: Mike: I'm glad that this piece spoke to you! I knew that you did very nice reflection images yourself. Your comments are very appreciated. Thanks again and best regards, Will

This is my favorite! I also love Chihuly's work, and you captured it perfectly - great job!!

Artist Reply: Jerry: thanks so much. Chihuly is amazing. His work is so detailed, but so abstract that it's a pleasure to view. Thank you again for you kind comments. Best regards, Will
