pencil, acrylic paint and squid ink on a 24x36 inch canvas. This was a re-do of my other piece titled "the becoming" done at the request of someone who wanted a custom piece much like that one. I was never really happy with the first version so I was excited to do it again and better. the more I look at it, I don't know if I quite like this one either or if it's "better" than the first one for that matter, but the customer was happy. Considering the subject matter/ theme of this piece and the fact that the buyer has a deep connection with the ocean, I thought I'd change things up a bit and I added some watered down squid ink to the background of the pick. That made it both about, and of the ocean.(if that makes any sense at all)
