Last week two out of three of this year's babies were paddling close to the parents; one has already disappeared. This happens every year and it is uncertain whether the young are grabbed by snapping turtles or coyotes, both are real possibilities. This is Josey Ranch Lake, an urban park in Carrollton, Texas.
