Afghan girl study

That 12 year old girl has a name - Sharbat Gula - who in 1985 fled to Pakistan to escape the cruelty of war that raged then for 5 to 7 years in Afghan. Today she is married, in her mid 30's and has returned to Afghan and lives in a remote village with husband and 3 daughters. Her eyes is what made her famous - If Leonardo DA Vinci immortalized the smile of Mona Lisa then photographer Steve McCurry immortalized the green eyes of Sharbat Gula that stunned the world in June 1985. She became one of the world's most famous faces. Her image appeared on the front of magazines and books, posters, lapel pins, and even rugs, but she didn't know it - nor will she ever know that it was not my intent to capture her a as a "dead on portrait"since as a photo I had no emotional knowledge of the person and painted it accordingly as a "study" and in 1992 all the stories we now know, were not in the original article in Nat Geo. I THINK published in 1990?? actually I saw the Nat. Geo. special and am planning a then and now portrait as well... my only hope is that she never visits the LOUVRE and sees the number of people sitting in front of the Mona Lisa ces't la vie and did the Nat. Geo . people EVER give this woman a fraction of the money they generated with her photo and the show "looking for" I would think all her children should go to Harvard at the very least
