Artist comment: "Living on the Washington Coast affords me ample opportunity to observe the past-times of man and wild life. During clam season I enjoy spending time watching clam diggers and accompanying opportunistic seagulls. This pastel on Canson Mi-teintes paper depicts one such moment in time. I began with a sketch, then, from top to bottom I painted the sea and sand using warm gray pastel sticks. Next I added the white accents. Finally I rendered the figures; the ‘warm’ elements in this cool setting."
